TOP-IX is on Service DB, the first portal developed in Italy and dedicated to the research and offer of Wholesale services.
TOP-IX is the first IXP participating in the project launched by Namex at the beginning of November.aspetta
The goal is to have a neutral place where members of the IXPs can exhibit their services, promote offers and easily get in touch with other companies operating in the telecommunications sector.
The TOP-IX infrastructure allows, through private VLANs, the connection between those who offer and those who buy the service, acting as a simple technological intermediary. The contract takes place between the consortium members, without any commercial intermediation, but with the involvement of the operational structure in configurating the necessary VLANs and ports. Consortium members are free to choose whether to sell / buy services on a single port (appropriately sized) or on dedicated ports.

Andrea Casalegno, TOP-IX Executive Director, explains: “TOP-IX has been making a Marketplace available to its members for a long time. This allowed the growth of many local operators, benefiting from the capillary presence of TOP-IX in the territory. Exposing these services on ServiceDB will increase the possibilities for local operators and provide larger players with an additional market opportunity. We are therefore particularly happy to use the portal created by Namex and to contribute to its development”
Some of the services offered are, for example:
- direct and fast Ethernet interconnections, point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, or VPLS, both national and international, in order to connect company offices geographically distributed anywhere in the world;
- ethernet interconnections to the major Clouds (such as AWS, Azure, Softlayer etc …) to improve performance compared to their normal Internet connection and increase security from DDoS attacks;
- remote peering services to other Italian and foreign IXPs;
- protection services from DDoS attacks.
