Transport

The Transport services allow for the implementation of point-to-point or multipoint connections for private needs (e.g., backhauling) for Members and entities connected to the Consortium's infrastructure.

Transport services

The Transport services are dedicated exclusively to a single Member/Partner of the consortium and allow for the implementation of dedicated Layer 2 connectivity between ports assigned to them, active on the consortium’s infrastructure.

The Transport services are exclusively available in direct access mode to the TOP-IX infrastructure and can only be provided on ports of the “Transport” type.

For more information, see our full Service Description.

SERVICE TRANSPORT SPECIFICATIONS

Access to the services must be made in full compliance with the following constraints and requirements.

Physical Layer
The physical interfaces of the devices connected to the TOP-IX infrastructure must comply with the interconnection requirements defined in the Service Description document.

Any exceptions must be agreed upon with TOP-IX and explicitly authorized by it.

MAC and VLAN Layer
The service is intended to allow connectivity between Layer 3 devices of the Consortium’s Members/Partners, therefore a limit is imposed on the MAC addresses that can be routed through the TOP-IX infrastructure (a necessary limit to preserve the proper functioning of the backbone itself).

The maximum limit of MAC addresses that will be accepted on the single interconnection port is set to 2 for each requested VLAN.

The service also includes:

  • one or more IP addresses belonging to the Autonomous System of TOP-IX (according to the services
    requested) to be used to implement any BGP sessions;
  • one or more VLANs to other Members/Partners of the Consortium (each VLAN can be
    propagated exclusively between two Members/Partners);
  • access to statistics, managed by TOP-IX, related to the volume of traffic developed
    through their own active port on the Consortium’s backbone;
  • participation in TOP-IX mailing lists;
  • system support for configuration updates on the ports;
  • system support for failures within the TOP-IX platform that impair its operation.

The services provided by the Consortium DO NOT include:

  • housing costs;
  • costs for cross-connects within the Data Center;
  • connection fees between the Consortium’s headquarters and the TOP-IX headquarters;
  • configuration of the Consortium’s devices.
