The TOP-IX Consortium has been actively working on several fronts for over ten years now: managing the Internet Exchange infrastructure (the reason for its initial foundation in 2002); running the Development Program, which has been providing support for technological innovation projects since 2006; and the Streaming platform, which enabled the Consortium to act as official provider of the Berlinale Film Festival since 2006.
TOP-IX has in recent years dealt with some key issues in its field. Cloud Computing in 2008 and Open Data in 2010 – where TOP-IX helped set up dati.piemonte.it, the first Italian portal dedicated to open data – are just two such examples. Similarly, Big Data in 2011 led to the training course “Big Dive” and Social Innovation (2014).
