Last week, a new direct connection was activated between Lyonix (operated by Rezopole) and TOP-IX. It uses the infrastructures managed by the two companies for remote peering, for networks directly connected to TOP-IX towards the transalpine IX and vice versa.
TOP-IX exploits its resources in the Susa valley, relying on the optical fiber infrastructure of Sitaf, which manages the Frejus tunnel, where the resources managed by Rezopole have been interconnected.
This new connection has made it possible to overcome some drawbacks such as higher latency than expected and the difficulty in having a prompt response in case of failures. The benefit in terms of latency was immediate, with a reduction from 12ms to 6ms.
