During lockdown days, TOP-IX’s Tech Unit has carried out lots of interventions throughout the regional territory. Between 12 March and 3 April, consortium members asked 10 new activations or strengthening interventions. This brought an increase of 100 Gbps, which led to an overall capacity of around 900 Gbps.
Furthermore, lots of enhancements were made on the networks. On 9 March the Turin metropolitan fiber optic network was strengthened: some updates have been made on the transmission backbones between Core nodes Torino 1 (CSI) and Torino 2 (ITGates).
Between 15 and 23 March, updating interventions were carried out on the transmission platforms in the nodes of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria.
On the Cuneo node, the transmission platform have been updated and the backbone linking Turin and Cuneo was enhanced.
Last but not least, the transmission backbone of the south ring has been enhanced, in the Turin – Asti – Alessandria – Milan section.
