Colt Technology Services, in 2002 was one of the founding members of the TOP-IX non-profit consortium. Today, as a founding member, he becomes a qualified partner.
The use of the services by the consortium members and their growing business needs have led TOP-IX to expand from Turin to Milan and, through new Data Centers, offer the possibility of setting up an effective Disaster Recovery solution. To be able to interconnect this data center, continuing to manage connectivity autonomously, the need arose to have the dark fiber, which would allow maximum levels of flexibility and control to support virtually unlimited increases in bandwidth, in the times and with the most suitable rhythms.
TOP-IX has therefore issued a request for proposal (RFP) among its members and the choice fell on Colt for quality of the service, price and availability of the tracks of the Dark Fiber network on which it would base its services. “Colt immediately understood our needs and responded extremely promptly. In particular, the availability of the tracks helped us in the work planning phase – says Luca Cicchelli, Interconnection Manager di TOP-IX -. I know the company very well both as a Founding Member and for other collaborations and never as in this case we found ourselves on the client’s side. The professionalism and speed of execution have confirmed that we will be able to rely on Colt for future developments”.
Over the years, Colt has invested heavily in creating a network that could support Italian companies to autonomously exploit the connectivity offered and according to individual needs, and this further partnership demonstrates the importance of the Italian market for the company. “Our goal is to be the most customer-oriented company in our industry and work to understand its needs and satisfy them – says Enzo Cascino, Colt’s Enterprise Sales Manager -. The partnership with the TOP-IX Consortium makes us particularly proud because we have always believed in this reality and thanks to our solutions we can help them concretely to achieve their goals and thus contribute to the growth of the territory”.
